Challenge
Getinge / Castle, a global manufacturer of surgical and sterilization products, wanted to reduce the level of heat and color degradation from operating room surgical lights by incorporating a remote, easily-upgraded fiber optic source.
|
Solution
| SPARK provided all mechanical engineering for the surgical
lighting system, including integrating the remote fiber optic
conduit through intricate swivel joints.
| SPARK's design & engineering featured a multi-directional
swivel joint with smooth freedom of movement for medical
personnel.
|
Result
SPARK achieved the project objectives to deliver color correct light to the surgical area and reduce heat, and allow easy replacement of the fiber optic light source. SPARK also assembled a working prototype of the surgical lighting system for a tradeshow.
Due to Getinge USA's decision to relocate product development back to Europe, the surgical lighting system was not marketed after SPARK completed a tool-ready CAD package.
