SPARK's design solution fixed Ryobi's existing valve problems and reduced parts to accommodate both U. S. and European voltage differences.

In need of updating their existing, combination Vacuum, Blower & Mulcher product line because of performance problems, Ryobi Power Tools hired SPARK to solve multiple design issues.

SPARK re-engineered the existing Ryobi product to fix a selector valve problem (clogging from wet debris) and solve voltage issues. Given the re-investment in tooling, SPARK re-designed the product to create a family look consistent with the existing lawn & garden product line.

While the original project scope called for two designs - 120 & 220 volt versions, SPARK re-designed one part to accommodate both voltage levels. This solution eliminated the need for tool insert changes and the necessity to inventory two different parts.

Ryobi's new Vacuum, Blower & Mulcher product line continued as a market driver in this category.
